LBC Property Cleanup Grant
About the Environmental Cleanup
Lifecycle Building Center is one of five Metro Atlanta recipients of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 (Southeast Region) awarded Georgia Region 4 Brownfields Program Cleanup Grant. LBC submitted the 1116 Murphy Avenue property to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Brownfield Program under a Corrective Action Plan dated August 30, 2016. The property was formally accepted into the Brownfield Program on September 15, 2016. In September 2017, Lifecycle Building Center won an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Grant to perform additional environmental cleanup of their operations center and warehouse. The cleanup is being conducted under LBC’s EPA Brownfields Cooperative Agreement Work Plan dated May 1, 2016 and under Cooperative Agreement Number: (#BF - 00D59717 - 0)
Cleanup is set to begin in February 2019, and it will continue throughout the year. Focus will be placed on making the whole of the LBC building useable and safe for business operations, so that LBC can expand and offer even more benefit to the local and surrounding community.
Public Notice: Community Meeting Sessions
Community involvement is vital to the success of any Brownfield Cleanup. LBC deeply values and supports the communities adjacent to Reuse Center as well as the larger Metro Atlanta community, which have both been vital to the organization’s development and growth. LBC hopes to keep the community informed and involved with the cleanup activities through hosting community meetings, presentations, open houses, email updates, and through collaboration with a variety of organizations with similar goals and experience.
