Our volunteers have been one of the most significant factors in LBC’s success. With such a lean staff, we rely on volunteer support to enact our mission. 

We need YOU. 

Here is how you can get involved.

Reuse Center/Retail Support

Roll up your sleeves & get your hands dirty at LBC​.

  • The goal of a reuse center/retail volunteer is to facilitate material reuse through the collection and resale of reclaimed materials at our reuse center/store.

  • Activities include: unloading material donations, processing and moving inventory, organizing/cleaning materials, setting up material displays, material pricing, customer service, sales support and loading materials for customers

  • As a volunteer you will learn material handling & identification. You will gain construction skills required to execute the work, and knowledge of proper safety techniques. You will improve your team building skills, and gain experience in customer service. You will achieve a greater understanding of reuse, and sustainability.

  • Requirements for volunteers in this position include: must be 18 years or older, ability to execute construction work, heavy lifting, ability to work in unconditioned environments (i.e. no heat/air conditioning) willingness to work as part of a team, wear proper clothing/personal protective equipment (e.g. hard hat, safety glasses, boots, ear plugs, gloves), & ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative effort.

  • This volunteer opportunity is great for individuals or groups (school, corporate, etc.)

Event Volunteer
Event Support

​Support our events all year long by volunteering.

  • The goal of event support volunteers is to provide assistance at the variety of events LBC hosts throughout the year.

  • Activities for these volunteers vary depending on the event. General event support activities include, but are not limited to:

    • Festivals: setup/break down the LBC booth, promoting LBC verbally with attendees, and handing out LBC flyers.

    • Open House: setup/break down, customer service support, moving materials, and handing out LBC flyers.

    • Annual Fundraiser: setup/break down, event promotion, checking in attendees, and general way-finding/aid.

    • Do-It-Yourself Workshop:- skilled volunteers help attendees build items, support projects, and event setup/break down

  • As a volunteer you will learn how to support a team learn event management skills and expand our community of reuse advocates. You will have opportunities to be creative, and think outside of the box. You will achieve a greater understanding of reuse, and sustainability.

  • Requirements for volunteers in this position include: must be 18 years or older, willingness to be flexible and ability to take direction well. Additional requirements may apply depending on the event.
