Outlined below are some general descriptions to help best match your skills and interests with our immediate and upcoming volunteer opportunities. There are also ongoing needs. Definitely contact us if you have a skill or an idea you would like to contribute that isn’t listed!
MATERIAL HANDLING TYPE OPPORTUNITIES
Deconstruction Volunteer: If it works, take it apart and find out why! Whether you’re looking for a hands-on experience dismantling stuff, want a real world crash course in jobsite logistics, or simply can’t stand the idea of useable materials going to the landfill. The LBC is developing the capacity to offer strategic disassembly services to various residential and commercial building owners. On occasion, we could use a few (or many) hands to help make deconstruction a viable construction waste management option in the City of Atlanta. Pick-up Driver/Transporter: The person who packs the car on a camping trip (Drives an LBC or personal truck while performing scheduled pickups of donated items or transporting material collected via deconstruction activity. Pickups are throughout the metro Atlanta area. Minimum requirements: excellent customer service skills; clean driving record, ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a consistent basis.
Receiving/Processing Specialist: Facilitates the flow of incoming donations and outgoing purchases; provides donation receipts and tracks incoming materials; prices new inventory and ensures swift turnover onto the sales floor. Minimum requirements: excellent customer service skills; ability to lift up to 65 lbs. on a consistent basis; ability to perform basic pricing research as needed; must be at least 18 years old.
ADMINISTRATIVE TYPE OPPORTUNITIES
Marketing (immediate/ongoing need): There is a range of tasks that need to be accomplished. From updating social media and assisting with events to graphic design and neighborhood outreach. Minimum requirements: solid computer skills, administrative background; knowledge of financial reporting; must be at least 21 years old.
Bookkeeper (immediate/ongoing need): Processes paper work of revenues and expenses of store transactions on a weekly basis. This position reports to Executive Director and the LBC Bookkeeper. Minimum requirements: solid computer skills, administrative background; knowledge of financial reporting; must be at least 21 years old.
Administrative Specialist (immediate/ongoing need): Assists the store manager with data entry related to tracking inventory and sales; helps maintain database of volunteers and donors. Helps schedule volunteers for shift work. Also provides general administrative support with mailings, etc. Minimum requirements: solid computer skills, administrative background; must be at least 21 years old.
